Archies Christening

Went up to Edinburgh on the train at that weekend For my cousins, little lads Christening. Was a really nice day. Hadn't seen that side of the family in year or so and I hadnt seen the new generation! Little Archie and Alfe are both 1 year old. Really good to see them all... Its bloody cold up north though!
I went first class on the train because it was £35 standard and the £3o first class. First class i thankyou...

Also bought Bruno via the apple store to watch on my ipod touch. .. But found it to difficult to watch. Wrong on so many levels!

A post apocalyptic photoshop of Cawood

Finally got round to doing a tutorial on how to make a scene look post apocalyptic. I think its worked well. The original photo is of the street my house is on. I then made it look post apocalyptic.
I think one of the things i would liked to of done more of is making things look over grown.
I don't think the well cut bush to the right would look anything like what it does. Maybes i could of replaced it with a bush that's a bit more out of control.

So things I learnt...
  • Used vanishing point. Great tool for getting the correct aspect on doing road re-surfacing. Useful for changing a picture on wall for example and getting the correct aspect. Found a tutorial on that. Might do that one as well.
  • Lighting effects under render
  • Use of the burn/dodge tool for grubbing things up
  • How using some of the different modes work on a brush
  • Using a mask effectively

Ipod touch cracked.

Spent the morning cracking my Ipod touch. They don’t make it easy! But at least I can copy DVD's ect to it now. I’ve also had a look at putting cracked apps on it. There are loads of steps you have to take to do so. I really can’t be bothered. To be honest I would much rather pay the 59p for the app and have it on my iPod quickly. Plus I can sleep easy knowing I’ve given a developer a few penny's for all their hard work! ha.

I used this site to do it....

MOON

Went to see the film "moon" this evening.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1182345/

I had never seen a trailer or read anything about it until I noticed a twitter from Jonathan Ross who had been raving on about it. So I watched a trailer online and decided it was my kind of film. Was really good. Very 2001 a space odyssey.

Validated my home page to a w3c standard.

Tar dar...

Biggest problem was that I was using duplicated div id's. I should have really been using a class instead of an id. I also needed to add alt tags to my images. This basically displays text if image rendering is switched off or is unavailable.

But that’s only one page. I have a few others that need sorting out.

Dreamweaver has also alerted me to problems with compatibility with Internet Explorer 6. Not sure how to fix these. Need to do a little research in to hacks to sort that out.

Also removed the very annoying problem of having a border around images if they are hyperlinked Easy fix... just set border-width:0px; .

Also need to add these changes to other parts of the site.

Starting to really like html and css now, but It’s also incredible frustrating to get stuff working and looking correct in all types of browser. Something I can see as being quite the problem when creating websites professionally

South Africa

Got back from South Africa a week ago. Was there for two weeks. Feels like I’ve never been gone!

Was fantastic!

We started off by visiting the hotel Zimbali Lodge . Weather wasnt brilliant but didn’t really spoil it for us. It looked amazing when the weather did finally break.. On our last day though!

We spent two nights there.

When our friends picked us up we visited a small seaside resort called Salt Rock.

We then went on our safari tour to  Hluhluwe Umfolozi Park, I’ve been here before and I can honestly say it’s one of the best views and breath taking places I have ever visited. We stayed at the Hilltop Lodge. We spent two days driving around the park searching for game. We saw many types of game including Elephant, Zebra, giraffe and Spring Bock.

After that it was on to St. Lucia, We took a trip out on the boat to see the hippos, crocodiles and various wildlife.

My birthday at jupiters!

Birthday at Jupiters!
Went to Manchester for my birthday straight after work.
Was really good bit tired though. I was up for nearly 24 hours.
The music isn't always what I like but always a really good atmosphere.
James Holroyd played later on in the night who is the warm up dj for likes of the Chemical Brothers.
Was really good and every one seemed to have turned up for him.

Nice surprise this morning to find my dad had bought me a private number plate. M14 AJM (My initials)

Happy Late New Year

Well it’s all over for another year. I love the Christmas period feels like a proper holiday. When I go away in the summer I never have that much time to relax, always doing stuff.
Christmas though I always think is different. You eat lots, booze lots, sleep lots and don’t go to the gym. Very relaxing! Back to it now though.
I was hoping to write allot about what I’m listening to on this blog but haven’t had chance to search the internet’s for much new stuff.
But currently in the car I’m listening to MGMT, The best of Radiohead and some electro album i came across that i can’t remember the name of but has some belting tunes on.
Also got my digital hands on this the other day
Justic
 - Tthhee Ppaarrttyy (Live Remix) cracking mix

My home computer is starting to age a little and my rents use it quite a bit and over the Christmas period i have noticed some belting offers on laptops. So that’s what av gone un done! Bought my self a new laptop!

Got a new Job!

Yup amazingly with all this economic turn down and it being Christmas i still managed to get a job!I got it direct through monster, working for a company that creates betting software for bookie shops. I had four days at their offices before Christmas, all seems a little scary and overly complicated at the moment. Hoping that should pass soon. Quite excited about this year though. Hoping to learn loads at my new post.
